He has also guided many M.B.A. (Marketing), M.B.A. (Pharma) and M.Sc. (Statistics) students during corporate tenure for industry projects as per the course curriculum.
Paper Presentation
He has presented a paper during an international conference on industrial mathematics organised by the Industrial Mathematics Group of I.I.T. Bombay in 2002.
Completed Research project
A research study was undertaken in 2015 to study the impact of medicines sponsored by pharma companies on pregnant women residing in rural areas. OPPI contracted this study.
Consultancy Services to Industry:
During the academic year 2017/2018, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. hired his services as Consultant (Advisor, Market Research & Strategy) for a statistical consultancy project "Applied Statistics in Pharma Budgeting”. The project’s objective was to apply statistical forecasting in Pharma Marketing and, after validating methodology providing solutions for future application in the budgeting process. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited is an Indian Multinational with global operations (consolidated revenue Rs. 9186 Crores). In India, their rank is 15th as of March 2017 (based on I.M.S. Mat Match 2017 Report).
Awards:
He received the Best Faculty Award in August 2014 from the ex-president of India - Dr Abdul Kalam, during the Convocation ceremony of the School of Science.
He received the I.M.S. Asia Pacific Excellence Award for Best Performance in 2011.
He received the Best performance award in 2005 from I.M.S. Global C.E.O. for developing a new product for the pharmaceutical industry. He directed the development of this stockist audit and replaced the 40-year-old retail audit used by the pharmaceutical market research industry.

About Sunil Shirvaiker
He has 16 years of academic experience, nine years is full time and has 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical (18 Years) and Electrical & Electronics (6+ Years) industry. He has worked both as a user and service provider of information & consultancy services.
In his current assignment at NMIMS Deemed-to-be University, as Program Director (Statistics), he is responsible for the Leadership of Statistics Department at the School of Science. Also a faculty in Applied Statistics, Operations & Marketing, member of the Board of Studies, and involved in developing New Courses. He is In-Charge Project Monitoring Committee (Statistics), which comprises industry experts in analytics and guides students in analytics projects. Also, an Internal mentor to students doing projects in the industry. As Area Chairperson Placements (School of Science) for Statistics, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences & Physiotherapy, in charge of school placement activities. Also gets involved in consulting work with industry on a case to case basis.
In his last assignment at I.M.S. Health Information & Consulting Services India Pvt. Ltd he worked as Director – Operations, South Asia for 12+ years. He was responsible for data supply, production, Statistical Services, I.T. & development for the previous five years. Last seven years, he was responsible for statistics & quality assurance. Post-merger between ims & ACNielsen ORGMARG in 2004, he was responsible for operational integration of systems/processes of ims & Nielsen. He directed the new product development efforts of sales audits and launched in 2005. He initiated the development efforts to launch the product Hospital Sales Audit and Total Sales Audit. He was a vital part of the overall I.M.S. India Leadership team providing strategic support in Data Supply and Management.
He worked with companies Sandoz India, Novartis Pharma, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries and I.M.S. Health Information & Consulting Services India from the pharma/service sector. He also worked with Siemens India and Synergesic Management Consultants.
Sunil started his career with Siemens India Limited and worked for around seven years with depts. Corporate marketing, Corporate planning, Strategic planning & Switchgear. He was responsible for market research for existing & new products, demand forecasting, performance analysis & strategic plan preparation.
Sunil moved to Sandoz as a Market Research Manager and was responsible for market research activities for two of SBU’s conventional & speciality client unit. He implemented the MRPII system in the marketing & was responsible for forecasting total demand for all the products. After the merger of Sandoz & Ciba, he headed Strategic planning & business development for Novartis Pharma. He was a core team member for the project "Business Strategy in India” with Mckinsey & Company.
Sunil then joined Sun Pharmaceuticals as Dy. G.M., Strategic Business Research, was responsible for a unit that gives strategic analysis & decision support to the top management team.
